Katharina Bußhoff’s Mika series is a must for 18-36 months. The stories are about a young toddler boy named Mika and his everyday life. They are truly funny and very simple, perfect for toddlers just starting to engage with books. The series is available in two formats, a large board book with multiple images on a single page (Duden 24+: Guck mal, was ich kann! Allererste Geschichten für jeden Tag: Allererstes Vorlesen) and two 6-book sets of small board books (Duden 18+: Meine kleine bunte Kinderwelt, and Duden 18+: Mein kleiner Trost- und- Mutmach- Würfel). If you have the choice, I’d purchase the small board books, which offer a better reading experience for toddlers due to the size and sequential arrangement of the images.
