Getting Started

This site is designed to help you begin or enhance how you teach your child German at home. I write articles on specific books, videos, and other content to use, general information on how to access content, and the grounding principles and steps you can take to make your language learning as effective as possible.

I’m a mother with a child I’ve successfully raised bilingual in German and English, but I’m also a PhD in German, a former language teacher, curriculum designer and educational technology product manager. I’m also someone who learned German as a second language from childhood to young adulthood. I’ve used all these experiences to identify pain points and solutions for families trying to incorporate language-learning into their daily life.

While you can jump right into any article that interests you, I think a lot of people benefit from starting with the foundational articles on establishing your own language-learning philosophy and reasons for teaching you children German.
